The Latin America and Caribbean Region
Visa International is divided into six Regions: Asia-Pacific; Canada; Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa; European Union; Latin America and the Caribbean; and U.S.A.
Each Region has its own Board of Directors, which manages operations at the local and regional level. In keeping with Visa's guiding principle, "Think locally, act locally," each Board of Directors is represented in the Visa International Board of Directors.
The regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean was initially established in California, in 1978, by Mr. James F. Partridge. A year later, to be physically closer to the Region it serviced, the Regional Office moved to Miami, Florida, where it still operates today. Mr. Eduardo Eraña is President of the Region. From Miami, Visa LAC serves over 44 countries and territories, with subregional offices in São Paulo, Brazil; Caracas, Venezuela; Mexico City, Mexico; and Santiago de Chile, Chile.
